Job Description

Barclays is seeking a Project Data Modeller to join our Data Services team within Shared Platform Engineering, part of the Current Accounts, Payments and Lending (CAPL) business area. As a Project Data Modeller, you will work closely with project and platform teams to understand data requirements, translate them into logical data models, and help guide the physical database changes that bring those models to life.

Job Responsibility

  • Analysis and documentation of business requirements to translate them into data models aligned with organisational goals
  • Development and maintenance of data dictionaries and glossaries to define data elements and their usage
  • Analysis and monitoring of data usage patterns to identify opportunities for data optimisation and improvement, in partnership with the Data Base Administrator
  • Strategic architecture definition and product selection
  • Production of logical designs in relevant subject area (technical, data, operational), showing for example: processes, objects, data flows, inputs, stored data and outputs. Identifying common components
  • Implementation of architectures and Identification, ownership and resolution of design related issues
  • Definition and documentation of data architectures standards, principles and strategies

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Data Modeller within large, complex organisations
  • An excellent understanding of data modelling concepts and techniques (conceptual, logical, and physical)
  • Experience with data modelling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills and able to translate business needs into technical designs
