Job Description:

The Project Cost Estimator in the Nordstrom Store Development organization provides accurate and timely cost estimates for building construction projects, from pre-construction through to completion, by analyzing historical project costs, evaluating project scope and collaborating with engineers, architects, contractors, and management teams to ensure the accuracy of cost forecasting.

Job Responsibility:

  • The collection and analysis of historical project costs to create and maintain a robust project cost database
  • Preparation of detailed initial cost estimates and financial overviews
  • Evaluation of project scope by reviewing contract documents and specifications to inform individual project budgets
  • Validating contractor/vendor pricing and bids providing expertise in estimating methodologies and best practices
  • Monitoring the financial performance of a project throughout the project's lifecycle
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (project managers, architects and engineers)
  • Identifying potential cost savings and risks
  • Presenting cost estimates and financial summaries to stakeholders
  • Establishing relationships with vendors and contractors to update pricing knowledge
  • Assist design teams with cost studies for prototype design changes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Proven experience in cost estimation and analysis with industry-specific software
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and cost estimation software
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, particularly retail buildings
  • Ability to create budgets with limited design Information
