Job Description

To provide a comprehensive and effective cost control and reporting service. To provide cost management, oversight and reporting service for the contract to enable the effective management of expenditure and provide oversight of the budget. Manage the timely collection of data to support on-going budget control and forecasting. To safely provide cost control management support to the Project Manager in delivering successful projects, product or integrated solutions to time, scope in a cost-effective way.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide a comprehensive and effective cost control and reporting service
  • Provide cost management, oversight and reporting service for the contract
  • Manage the timely collection of data to support on-going budget control and forecasting
  • Provide cost control management support to the Project Manager in delivering successful projects
  • Comply with project controls procedures, processes and systems
  • Contribute to improving the quality and performance of cost control processes and systems
  • Assist in the preparation of Change Control procedures and subsequent implementation
  • Work closely with Planning Engineering to ensure costings for project plans are accurate
  • Assist in keeping records for change control, trends and maintenance of trend/change log
  • Assist Project Team in day to day management of Project Control activities
  • Be responsible for monthly and ad hoc reporting on behalf of Project Team and/or Head of Cost Engineering and Estimating
  • Perform any other Project Control duties as required
  • Interrogate Business System to ascertain actual expenditure
  • Prepare monthly cost reports with trend analysis and early warning
  • Ensure budgets are controlled within authorised funding limits
  • Monitor trends monthly and provide analysis
  • Invoke project change control procedure where required
  • Assist in preparation of project reviews and provide advice on corrective actions
  • Identify variances and develop mitigation strategies
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement
  • Formulate and manage own personal training plan and development activity

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level, AAT qualified or equivalent
  • Competent user of MS Office
  • Knowledge of Major Projects, Change Control procedures and management
  • Experience of managing Financial Performance
  • Experience of planning and controlling work to Project Control Procedures
  • Managing and retrieving information
  • Forecasting
  • Producing and presenting information to high standards
  • Reporting requirements and report writing
  • Able to organise and prioritise own work
