Our busy and growing client is currently seeking a detail-oriented and technical Estimator/Project Coordinator to join their Nisku team. In this hybrid role, you will act as the bridge between initial client inquiry and final project delivery. You will be responsible for generating accurate cost estimates for piping spools and structural skids, sourcing materials, and ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget during the fabrication phase. The ideal candidate has a strong background in piping fabrication, understands the nuances of material sourcing in the Alberta market, and can read complex technical drawings with ease.
Job Responsibility:
Review client RFQs, technical specifications, P&IDs, and isometric drawings to understand the full scope of work
Perform detailed material take-offs (MTOs) and calculate labor hours for welding, fitting, and assembly based on shop metrics
Prepare accurate, competitive, and timely bid packages for piping spools, structural skids, and pressure vessels
Identify potential risks or scope gaps in client documentation during the tender phase
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients once a project is awarded, providing updates on timelines and milestones
Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment between engineering, procurement, and the shop floor
Manage Change Orders (COs): Track scope changes, estimate their cost impact, and obtain client approval before proceeding
Ensure all quality control (QC) documentation and turnover packages are compiled correctly for project closeout
Source pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, and structural steel from vendors
Negotiate pricing and lead times with suppliers to ensure project profitability
Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and expedite material delivery to meet production deadlines
Manage inventory levels for project-specific materials
Requirements:
3 to 5 years of experience in estimating or project coordination within a piping fabrication, module yard, or industrial manufacturing environment
Post-secondary education in Engineering Design, Construction Management, or a related trade certification (e.g., Steamfitter/Pipefitter) is preferred
Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, Isometrics, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings
Familiarity with ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, and CWB structural codes is highly desirable
