As the Project Controls Manager you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the SMR Project by managing core project controls functions including schedule, cost, risk, and change control. Reporting to the Project Controls Lead, you will lead a team of project controls engineers and analysts, ensuring high-quality data, reporting, and performance tracking across the programme. This role bridges the gap between strategic leadership and technical delivery, providing hands-on management of project controls processes while contributing to continuous improvement and capability development.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules, ensuring alignment with programme milestones and delivery objectives
Manage cost control processes including budget tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting
Support the implementation of risk management frameworks, including qualitative and quantitative risk analysis (QRA)
Oversee change control processes, ensuring all changes are properly assessed, documented, and approved
Provide regular performance reporting to the Project Controls Lead and wider delivery team, using tools such as Power BI, Primavera P6, and EcoSys
Mentor and support Project Controls Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
Coordinate with delivery teams, PMO, and supply chain partners to ensure consistent and accurate project controls data
Contribute to the development and refinement of project controls strategies, standards, and procedures
Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and support assurance activities
Participate in cross-functional workshops and stakeholder engagement activities to ensure alignment and transparency
Requirements:
Demonstrable experience in project controls within large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, ideally in nuclear or regulated environments
Proficiency in scheduling and cost management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, EcoSys, Power BI)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
Experience managing change control, risk, and performance reporting processes
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to lead and develop junior team members
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with ambiguity and change
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Finance, or a related field
Nice to have:
Experience working within a startup or similar innovative environment, showcasing adaptability and comfort with uncertainty is desirable
Certification in Project Controls, such as AACEs CCP (Certified Cost Professional) or PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional) is desirable
Membership of professional body such as the APM or equivalent, and either working towards or Chartered
