Job Description

The Project Controller will work closely with our small Anchorage-based office team during this period, owning the day-to-day financial tracking of the project. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has worked in a North Slope or arctic construction environment and understands the pace, the paperwork, and the cost structures involved. This position involves supporting a client’s exploration project in West Harrison Bay, located about 90 miles WNW of Deadhorse, AK. The project plans to drill three exploration wells from artificial ice islands in shallow nearshore waters during Winter 2026/2027. Preparations, including staging camps, drilling, and construction, will occur in summer 2026, with equipment pre-staged on shallow draft deck barges moored in the Kogru River and at the old DEW line site there. Equipment will mainly be loaded from West Dock in Prudhoe Bay via tug and barge. Site preparation and sea lift are scheduled from early July to late September 2026. Winter operations begin in late November with crews mobilized for ice construction. Between these phases, caretakers will monitor the site and equipment during the shoulder season.

  • Track and process change orders, ensuring approved scope changes are reflected in the budget and forecast
  • Liaise with contractors to obtain cost reports, progress claims, and supporting documentation in a timely manner
  • Provide general logistics support as needed: for example, helping to coordinate field trucks, contractor accommodation as needed
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready cost files and documentation throughout the project
  • Prepare a clean handoff cost report and updated forecast at contract end for transition to internal management through the drilling phase
  • Serve as general receptionist in Anchorage office, supporting office team as necessary

Requirements

  • Direct experience in a North Slope or northern Alaska project environment is required — backgrounds such as rig clerk, ice road or winter construction administrator, or camp administrator, are well suited to this role
  • Solid understanding of AFE structure, cost coding, and invoice processing in an oil and gas or heavy construction context
  • Familiarity with marine, sealift, or construction cost structures and contracts is a strong asset
  • Experience reviewing subcontractor invoices and progress claims for accuracy against contract terms
