As a Project Architect at Shea, you’ll create innovative architectural solutions while coordinating our team, consultants and contractors throughout the design process, taking a leading role in executing all phases of a project from schematic drawings through construction administration. You will work closely with the Project Manager, who oversees the entire project process, and you will be responsible for the construction documents, consultant coordination, and construction administration. You’ll collaborate with other experienced designers, architects, and Shea team members approaching each project with a strategic mindset to help our clients reach their goals. You’ll work within the realms of restaurant + hospitality, retail, and workplace, pulling best practices from across industries to create one-of-a-kind spaces and experiences.
Job Responsibility:
Manage deliverables within the project scope through coordination of internal team and external consultants and contractors, playing a lead role in the management of the drawing sets and the construction administration phase
Create and execute innovative architectural design solutions to support client goals, including conceptual sketches, detailed plans, and renderings
Conduct on-site visits and inspections to assess project progress, quality and adherence to design specifications. Identify potential issues and develop practical solutions to mitigate risks and ensure success
Develop, review, and modify project documentation, ensuring all are accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with relevant codes and regulations
Requirements:
Demonstrated Project Architect experience from project initiation through project completion, coordinating the internal project team, client, general contractors, consultants, engineers and city/health department officials
Preparation of schematic, design development and construction documents through thorough knowledge of construction practices and skills in Revit
Strong understanding of building, health and accessibility codes and the ability to determine compliance while aligning with design intent
Collaboration with other team members, including, but not limited to Designers, Design Directors, Project Managers, Technicians and Architects
In-depth knowledge of QA/QC processes
Advanced knowledge of architectural building system integration (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building envelope, fire protection, and accessibility)
Capacity to thrive independently and in a teamwork setting, able to shift between multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
Excellent communication skills for conveying design ideas, project progress, and technical information to clients and contractors
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited school
10+ years of experience
Licensure is preferred, or on track to become licensed soon
