We are looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio. In this role, you will oversee financial operations for construction projects and contribute to their successful completion. This position offers a long-term contract opportunity, providing stability and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the construction industry.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and manage financial processes for construction projects, ensuring accuracy from initiation to completion
Handle accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing
Prepare and review owner progress billings, coordinating submissions to appropriate stakeholders
Collect and process accounts receivable applications from clients in a timely manner
Ensure prompt payment of subcontractors by processing and remitting accounts payable applications
Assist with month-end closing activities, including job costing, journal entries, and variance reporting
Support reconciliation tasks to ensure vouchers and invoices are correctly posted within the proper accounting periods
Collaborate on special projects with the accounting team to improve processes and meet organizational goals
Maintain positive and detail-oriented relationships with internal teams and external partners
Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned to support project success
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within construction or project-based environments
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong understanding of accounting principles and job costing practices
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact professionally with team members and stakeholders
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate problem-solving capabilities
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
