We are seeking to recruit a Senior Project Accountant/Finance Manager to act as the key link between Finance and operational project teams within a fast paced, technology and engineering led environment. You will play a critical role in supporting senior leadership through accurate financial reporting, robust project oversight, and insightful analysis that drives commercial performance. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role includes managing a small finance team and partnering closely with Technical Directors and Project Managers to ensure strong financial governance across projects.
Job Responsibility:
Produce monthly management accounts and weekly performance reporting, including profitability, WIP, AR, utilisation, sales rates, multipliers, and key KPIs
Oversee financial management of projects from inception through to completion, ensuring effective systems and controls are in place
Lead the monthly Project Finance Review process with operational leadership teams
Provide robust project financial reporting and challenge performance where required
Support project teams in monthly revenue recognition, forecasting, and variance analysis
Oversee and deliver finance inductions and ongoing financial training to project teams
Investigate project variances and provide clear reporting to management
Line manage the Project Accountant, Assistant Project Accountant, and Accounts Assistant
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and oversee working capital reporting including WIP, AR, and cashflow
Manage the monthly payroll process and related queries
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including system enhancements and process optimisation
Support the Head of Finance in the production of the annual operating budget for PCL along with periodic forecasting at both the company and operational level.
Assist with annual audits, statutory reporting, and periodic forecasting
Provide financial modelling and analysis to support decision making
Identify risks and opportunities across business operations and support financial planning activities
Requirements:
CCAB qualified (ACCA or CIMA preferred)
Experience in project accounting or within engineering, consulting, design, or professional services environments
Strong financial analysis and business partnering capability
Advanced Excel skills with experience using Power BI and project accounting systems
Proven ability to communicate effectively across all organisational levels
Highly organised, detail focused, and comfortable working in a fast paced project environment
Strong team leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
