We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team in Tacoma, Washington. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of assigned projects, including contract modifications, compliance monitoring, and payment processing. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy of project accounting while supporting the broader project team.
Job Responsibility:
Establish and maintain project setups within the organization’s accounting systems, including rate tables
Analyze financial data to prepare accurate journal entries and document business transactions
Assist project managers in creating project billings and managing accounts receivable collections
Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure adherence to contractual requirements
Process subcontractor invoices and foster strong working relationships with vendors
Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable balances to ensure accuracy
Review and reconcile project contracts and subcontracts to maintain alignment with financial records
Provide support to project managers and coordinate project closeouts effectively
Prepare detailed reports and review contracts to validate transactions before settlements
Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend actionable solutions
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting, general ledger management, or construction accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency with Vista/Viewpoint accounting software systems is highly desirable
Strong written communication skills for drafting reports and correspondence
Effective verbal communication skills for presenting information to teams and clients
Familiarity with office environments, including tasks requiring sitting, bending, and twisting
Ability to reconcile accounts, including bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
Experience with month-end close processes and general accounting tasks
