We are looking for a Project Accountant to join a growing construction company in Coconut Creek, Florida. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project-level cost visibility, and keeping core accounting activities on schedule. The person in this role will work closely with company leadership and internal teams to strengthen financial organization, support informed decisions, and help build efficient processes for continued growth.
Job Responsibility
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including bookkeeping activities, transaction recording, and account maintenance
Review and enter invoices, receipts, credit card charges, and project-related expenditures with accurate coding and documentation
Monitor project costs across active jobs, ensuring budgets, committed spending, billings, deposits, draws, and retainage are tracked correctly
Prepare recurring cash flow updates that highlight receivables, payables, and upcoming payment obligations for leadership review
Manage weekly payment cycles for subcontractors and suppliers while maintaining organized support for each disbursement
Process payroll for office and field employees on a weekly basis, ensuring time and pay information is complete and accurate
Follow up with internal staff and external partners to obtain missing approvals, receipts, invoices, timecards, and other required records
Work with ownership, field personnel, office staff, and vendors to keep financial and project information accurate, timely, and aligned
Recommend and implement improvements to accounting workflows, reporting practices, documentation standards, and financial controls
Requirements
At least 3 years of experience handling full-cycle bookkeeping or project accounting responsibilities
Prior experience in construction accounting or another project-driven business environment is strongly preferred
Working knowledge of job costing, payroll processing, accounts payable, and project expense tracking
Proficiency with QuickBooks and familiarity with accounting or project management software tools
Ability to manage recurring weekly deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through across multiple priorities
Strong communication skills and the confidence to coordinate with field teams, vendors, and company leadership
Experience with construction payment practices in Florida is a plus
