We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial and operational management of our project-based business. This role plays a critical part in connecting finance with operations — overseeing budget tracking, resource allocation, and efficiency reporting across multiple concurrent projects.The ideal candidate is analytical and process-driven, with a talent for transforming data into actionable insights that improve productivity and profitability. This person will collaborate closely with project leads, operations, and finance to ensure every project runs on time, on budget, and with optimal resource utilization.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, forecasts, and job cost reports to ensure financial accuracy and accountability
Track and analyze team hours, labor allocation, and utilization to measure performance and identify opportunities for greater efficiency
Collaborate with operations and project managers to align budgets, timelines, and staffing plans with project goals
Monitor and report on resource allocation across active projects, highlighting potential gaps, overages, or inefficiencies
Prepare efficiency and productivity reports to evaluate project performance and inform operational decision-making
Reconcile project-related expenses, purchase orders, and vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance
Support leadership with budget variance analyses, financial summaries, and actionable insights
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to project accounting
Maintain organized and transparent financial documentation for all active projects
Partner with the CFO and Director of Operations to continuously refine tracking systems and improve cross-departmental reporting
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3–5 years of accounting or project finance experience within a project-based, creative, or production-oriented environment (e.g., architecture, interior design, staging, or similar)
Strong understanding of job costing, budget management, and time/resource tracking systems
Proficiency with accounting or project management tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Studio Designer, or comparable platforms)
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to generate clear and meaningful reports
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
Nice to have:
Experience with QuickBooks Online, Studio Designer, or ERP systems used in project-based industries
Familiarity with resource utilization reporting and performance metrics for multi-phase projects
Understanding of purchasing workflows and expense management processes
Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for operations and leadership
