We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our Accounting Team in Charlotte, NC. This role is an integral part of the Financial and Design teams, providing financial advice, support, and problem solving throughout entire project cycles. The role ensures accuracy, timeliness and compliance with accounting standards and contract requirements and handling multiple assignments in a rapidly changing, fast paced environment with frequent direct interaction with project managers and accounting leadership.
Job Responsibility:
Setup new projects and associated budgets in the financial system in accordance with contract terms
Assist with contract interpretation, tracking change orders, fee adjustments, and other modifications impacting project finances while maintaining accurate project contract files
Work closely with Project Managers and Studio leaders at all levels to ensure accurate and consistent billing and financial reporting to respective external and internal clients
Monitor and analyze project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance/profitability and review with Project Managers for accuracy
Prepare, review, and issue monthly invoices to clients with required supporting documentation
Maintain Subconsultant Agreements, coordinate subconsultant invoices and payments per contract terms
Monitor studio account receivables and ensure outstanding invoices are collected on a timely basis, including resolving any billing issues
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external clients
Understand and apply project accounting principles including billing terms and revenue recognition
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or Accounting
At least three years of related experience
Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Deltek Vantagepoint software
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with different personality types
Strong critical thinking and in-depth analysis with meticulous attention to detail
