Job Description:

Progress Tutor role at Tameside College, a further education college offering a wide range of courses including A level and advanced level vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships and adult courses up to degree Level. The college aims to give all students an exceptional experience in a supportive and friendly environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver a proportionate case load of group tutorials across a variety of levels and curriculum areas, focussing upon personal development, behaviour, welfare and employability
  • Work alongside curriculum teams to break down barriers and ensure that all students are able to achieve successful outcomes both academically and socially

Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm, resilience and motivation
  • Relevant level 4 qualification or equivalent
  • Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy knowledge
  • Experience of supporting learners across a range of curriculum areas in an educational environment
  • Experience with the issues facing young people with barriers to their learning (including social, emotional, behavioural)
  • Experience in target setting and monitoring with learners
  • Proven track record in delivering personal development sessions or similar
  • Experience in monitoring the attendance, achievement and progression of students within an educational setting
  • Sound understanding of the range of issues facing young people with barriers to their learning
  • Ability to motivate students with a diverse range of needs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with students
  • Ability to remain calm
  • Problem-solving approach to managing challenging situations
