Our client is a large, complex national organisation operating in a highly regulated environment. They are seeking an experienced Senior Programme Director to lead a significant digital transformation portfolio which will include stabilising critical systems, maturing delivery disciplines, and shaping the enterprise programmes that will underpin long-term service performance. This is a portfolio-level leadership role requiring someone who can operate with equal confidence at the executive table and on the delivery floor. The programmes you will oversee involve service availability, operational risk, and consider the reliability of systems that people depend on every day. The role is available as a day rate contract with an initial 12-month term, starting as soon as possible.
Job Responsibility
Lead a complex, multi-stream transformation portfolio (typically $50M+ in investment)
Establish and embed portfolio governance, prioritisation, and benefits frameworks
Drive transparent, data-led performance tracking and financial reporting
Own and manage significant investment portfolios and funding envelopes
Lead development of investment cases, funding strategies, and recovery models
Drive investment planning, cost optimisation, and financial discipline
Oversee delivery across multiple programmes, teams, and vendors
Embed modern delivery practices, including Agile at scale
Rapidly stabilise and mature delivery and portfolio discipline across the organisation
Requirements
15+ years in digital, technology, or transformation leadership
Proven track record as Programme Director, Portfolio Director, Technology COO, or equivalent
Experience leading large-scale transformation programmes across multiple workstreams
Experience leading large multi-disciplinary teams (50+ personnel)
Delivery across multiple business units and complex stakeholder environments
Background in large, complex organisations (public sector or comparable regulated environments preferred)
