Job Description

Allen Lane is proud to be supporting the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in their search for a permanent Programme Director. This is an SCS1 grade position, where you will lead the project delivery of a high-priority programme. As Programme Director, you will work closely with the Senior Responsible Owner for the Programme to deliver new business process which are fit for the future. Day to day, you will be responsible for the programme’s delivery, budget and performance, leading a workforce of approximately 350 people. We are seeking a senior leader with excellent judgement, vision, resilience, and the ability to operate with credibility at Executive and Board level – someone we can trust to deliver. This will be a demanding role, but also a highly rewarding one. You will play a pivotal part in driving Agency-wide change that will improve our productivity and, ultimately, improve access to medicines for patients across the UK.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the project delivery of a high-priority programme
  • Work closely with the Senior Responsible Owner for the Programme to deliver new business process which are fit for the future
  • Responsible for the programme’s delivery, budget and performance, leading a workforce of approximately 350 people
  • Lead a digitally enabled change programme designed to update and modernise all our regulatory processes following EU Exit
  • Integrate business change, technology delivery and supplier performance into a single coherent delivery model

Requirements

  • Understanding of project delivery governance including service assessments, spend controls, and accessibility, security and data protection requirements, ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory requirements
  • Extensive experience of using Agile delivery methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience of holding technology delivery partners to account for delivery of agreed outcomes
  • Making Effective Decisions – Ability to build a consensus across a large and often diverse group of stakeholders and develop strategic relationships with internal and external suppliers managing risk to deliver successful programme outcomes on time and to budget
  • Communicating and Influencing – Strong stakeholder management, ability to engage, influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders, building effective partnerships across technical, policy and operational areas to delivery programme outcomes successfully and safely
