Under the overall authority and direct supervisor of the UNESCO Representative in Pakistan, the Programme Associate (Public Information & Executive Office Support) provides technical and operational support in the areas of digital communication, public information, and executive office coordination. Within this framework, the incumbent supports the strengthening of the Office’s visibility and public image by assisting in the preparation, dissemination, and monitoring of communication outputs in line with UNESCO’s corporate communication standards and donor visibility requirements. The position also contributes to the smooth functioning of the Director’s Office by facilitating workflow management, correspondence tracking, documentation control, and coordination processes. The incumbent works in close collaboration with programme and administrative colleagues, as well as external partners, to ensure timely information flow and appropriate follow-up on actions and commitments. The role requires a high degree of discretion, organizational skills, and sound judgment in handling sensitive matters, in accordance with UNESCO’s rules, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to Service Contract personnel.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in updating and maintaining UNESCO digital platforms, including the website and social media channels, ensuring full compliance with UNESCO branding guidelines and donor visibility requirements
Support drafting, editing, and publishing of communication materials in English including graphics, videos, and multimedia content
Maintain editorial calendars, monitor digital engagement, and contribute to analytics and reporting
Coordinate with programme teams to collect content, visuals, and updates for dissemination
Support coordination with external service providers, such as designers, videographers, photographers, and media partners, where applicable
Provide administrative and coordination support to the Director’s Office, including calendar management, handling correspondence, organizing meetings, and ensuring timely follow-up on priority and sensitive matters
Organize workshops, missions, and official visits
prepare briefing materials
maintain documentation and archives
Track and coordinate administrative and logistical arrangements to ensure smooth workflow
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Mission and the Programme Team
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, digital media, business administration, or related field
Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, digital media, administration, or executive/management support, preferably within the UN system or an international organization
IT Skills: Strong drafting, editorial, and content production skills in English
Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English and Urdu
Proficiency in digital communication tools, content management systems, and analytics
Excellent organizational, coordination, and time-management abilities
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Nice to have:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field
Specialized training or certification in digital communication, social media management, branding, or multimedia production
Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience working with the UN system or other international/multilateral organizations
Experience supporting senior management or executive offices
Experience in donor-funded project communication and visibility compliance
Experience in organizing high-level meetings, missions, or official visits
Knowledge of graphic design and multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing software)
Experience using content management systems (e.g., WordPress or similar platforms)
Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights dashboards)
Experience in drafting briefing notes and official correspondence for senior officials
