Under the overall authority of the Regional Director of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Regional Office in Bangkok and Office for UN Coordination for Asia and the Pacific, and the direct supervision from Regional Advisor of Social and Human Sciences Unit and Regional Advisor of UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the Service Contract holder will be responsible for providing program implementation support to the Sciences (SCS) Unit and Regional Office of UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) in a timely, accurate and pro-active manner in compliance with relevant HR, Administrative and Financial rules and regulations of the Organization, practices, procedures, guidelines, protocols. The volume and complexity of work requires a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Job Responsibility
Monitor finance and budgetary aspects of programme activities in compliance with programme and budgetary requirements and financial regulations
Provide support in procurement actions and contract management
Undertake basic programme-related budget and expenditure data analysis
provide data for the preparation of reports on programme execution
Collate information and draft regular and ad hoc budgetary/financial updates
Provide support in preparation of outreach activities, special events, capacity-building/training workshops and HR-related activities
Provide support in assessing needs for meetings/events/workshops/seminars, travel, document processing/publication production and consultants/temporary assistance, and coordinate office support services for the same
Maintain/update/archive programme documentation and records, research, and track background information and documentation
Provide and/or coordinate general office assistance (translation, printing, dispatch of information documents for statutory meetings, etc.) as required
Requirements
Completed secondary education and/or Bachelor's Degree in the field of business administration, finance, accounting, management, education, social sciences or related areas
Minimum five (5) years of work experience in integrated service execution and comprehensive process support preferably in an international environment
Proven experience in providing administrative and logistical support as a member of a project team
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with emphasis on quality, efficiency and aptitude to work under pressure
Discretion, initiative and service oriented to provide quality and timely support and services
Good knowledge of standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
Capacity to deal with people of different cultural backgrounds efficiently and tactfully
Flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities
Attention to detail and meticulous in correspondence
Excellent knowledge of English and Thai (spoken and written)
Nice to have
Bachelor's Degree or higher Degree in international development
Experience within the UN System or international organizations
Experience in conducting research will be an advantage
Knowledge of other official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) would be an asset
