As part of the talented Manufacturing Program Management team, you will be responsible for guiding new product development activities within Manufacturing operations using Mercury’s High-Performance Product Development Process (HPPD) from concept phase through start of production. Product categories include traditional outboards, sterndrives, electric propulsion, and controls and rigging.
Job Responsibility:
Represent Manufacturing within the cross-functional core teams that are established to lead each new product development program
Accountable for coordinating all program tasks and deliverables such as overall program plan, budget tracking and forecasting, resource time tracking, scope change management, risk management, decision tracking, and implementation schedule
Establish and manage detailed program schedule
Break down barriers and propose innovative solutions to technical issues
Present program updates to senior leadership and program teams
Serve as a liaison between Engineering/Marketing/Supply Chain/Manufacturing/Purchasing and Quality to communicate program plans and resolve technical issues
Ensure timely progress and management of the program plan
Advises on process changes, GAP resolution and conceptualizing new methods
Ensuring deliverables are achieved on a timely basis
Coordinate touch points within Manufacturing with appropriate operations leaders and technical managers
Acts as a catalyst to resolve project problems and conflicts, escalating when necessary
Assesses strengths and weaknesses at program gate reviews or when beginning or completing each phase of product development
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business or related field required
A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, or Engineering leadership related roles of increasing responsibility and scope
A minimum of 2+ years of previous project management experience
Genuine interest in marine propulsion products, boating, and technology
Strong analytic and decision-making abilities
Problem solving skills necessary to analyze complex issues and determine workable solutions
Ability to understand basic manufacturing process capability across multiple manufacturing processes
Ability to understand basic mechanical engineering design and functional information
Must be able to maintain detailed capital and expense budgets
Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal
Must be capable of achieving results by leading, directing, and influencing others
Desire and ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving discussions
Ability to lead and influence others with a constructive, positive approach
Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
Ability to consider potential courses of action and make independent decisions
Facilitation skills
Familiarity with project management processes, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
Must be willing to travel, including international travel
Nice to have:
Project Management training or PMP certification highly desired
Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
