BAE Systems is looking for a qualified Junior Corrosion Engineer to join our team for an exciting opportunity to work on a unique government contract. The Minuteman III (MM III) ICBM System Program Office (SPO) must ensure a safe, secure, and reliable weapon system until it is replaced by the Sentinel weapon system currently under acquisition. Our support contract assists the SPO in MM III technical sustainment engineering, providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and demonstration/validation. Our experts are responsible for integrated weapon system management, from inception to retirement. As a Junior Corrosion Engineer, you will work on a high-performing team to provide engineering, technical, and administrative expertise to the government to identify corrosion affects and potential corrosion and assist with implementing corrosion mitigations.
Job Responsibility:
Perform inspections and studies, review program documentation and technical data (e.g., operating procedures, drawings, and specifications), support requirement developments, and report on new prevention and control materials, processes, and technologies
Evaluate alternate materials and substrates to address obsolescence issues/concerns, reduction of hazardous material usage/finishes, and implementation of pollution prevention measures
Perform engineering and technical analyses, which require a highly diversified application of engineering principles, theories, concepts and precedents. Prepare data for reports on technical findings, recommendations, accomplishments, and progress measured against specific plans
Review or coordinate work with other team members to ensure progress is maintained to achieve specified aims
ensure conduct and performance of assignments is conducted as required by contractual agreements
Attend conferences and meetings to represent their assigned activity. Assist with the development of working group meeting agendas, scheduling conference rooms and teleconferences, preparing and consolidating briefing materials, providing meeting minutes, and drafting answers to action items assigned by other agencies or organizations
Evaluate plans, reports, requirements, and criteria from a technical perspective for a variety of technical activities and provide recommendations to the government
Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Corrosion Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be able to work independently, demonstrate strong initiative and an ability to organize daily tasks with minimal supervision
Possess strong communication skills (oral and written) as well as the ability to interact with team members, external vendors, various levels of management and internal clients
Nice to have:
National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) training or certification highly desired
Current U.S. Government Secret or higher security clearance highly desired
