The Program Director, Native American Fellowship will play a pivotal, non-curatorial role within the Curatorial Affairs Team, driving the vision, strategy, and execution of the Native American Fellowship Program. This dynamic position will lead the day-to-day operations of the fellowship program, overseeing all aspects of its administration while ensuring alignment with PEM’s mission and values.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and lead the strategy for the Native American Fellowship Program
Serve as primary point of logistics contact and provide emotional support to fellows
Foster connections among fellows, PEM staff, and external museum professionals
Plan and execute scheduling and logistics of the residential program
Orchestrate scheduling, recruitment, and selection of fellowship appointments
Deliver presentations and represent PEM at events
Facilitate networking opportunities
Design and implement recruitment strategies
Cultivate alumni relationships
Execute annual evaluation process and reporting
Elevate program visibility through marketing and PR
Prepare and oversee annual budget
Mentor and coach fellows and alumni
Attend conferences in U.S. and Canada
Requirements:
Master’s degree in art history, anthropology, or cultural studies preferred with an emphasis in Native American Studies
Bachelor’s degree holder with equivalent combination of education and experience welcome
Extensive, demonstrable experience in program development with a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures gained through lived and/or professional experience
Minimum of three to five years of relevant museum or nonprofit management and implementation experience, particularly in overseeing training and/or professional development programs
Direct experience with the culture, language, and traditions of Indigenous communities
