Job Description:

The Program Director, Community Health & Wellness (CHW), serves as a strategic leader responsible for advancing one of Sun Health's most impactful community-facing initiatives. This role is accountable for shaping the long-term vision, growth, and sustainability of CHW programming, positioning it as a cornerstone of healthy longevity in the community. Through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and mission-driven leadership, the Program Director will expand community engagement, strengthen Sun Health's brand presence, and cultivate meaningful pathways for individuals to connect with the broader Sun Health ecosystem. This leader will guide the evolution of CHW into a scalable, sustainable, and high-impact model that reflects the organization's commitment to wellness, prevention, and vibrant living.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and execute a forward-looking strategic plan for CHW that aligns with Sun Health's mission, growth objectives, and commitment to healthy longevity
  • Serve as a thought leader and ambassador for community wellness, elevating Sun Health's presence and influence in the region
  • Identify emerging trends in wellness, prevention, and community health to continuously evolve programming and delivery models
  • Design and scale innovative, evidence-informed programs that meet the evolving needs of diverse community populations
  • Lead the development of program models that are sustainable, measurable, and impactful
  • Integrate Vibrant Living initiatives into community-based offerings, extending their reach beyond residential communities
  • Partner with marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging and strong visibility of CHW programs
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with nonprofits, healthcare providers, and community organizations to expand reach and avoid duplication of services
  • Strengthen pathways that introduce community members to Sun Health services, programs, and philanthropic opportunities and position CHW as a central connector
  • Develop and execute funding strategies that leverage grants, donations, sponsorships, and earned revenue
  • Collaborate with the Sun Health Foundation to identify, pursue, and steward grant opportunities
  • Establish and refine pricing models for programs and services that balance accessibility, value, and financial sustainability
  • Provide leadership for efficient and effective day-to-day operations of CHW programs and services
  • Oversee implementation and optimization of systems (e.g., Swoogo CRM), ensuring integration with HubSpot and Raiser's Edge
  • Ensure seamless coordination across Sun Health residential communities, corporate departments, and foundation initiatives
  • Provide strong, values-based leadership that models accountability, engagement, and collaboration
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard team members, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and culture
  • Support employee growth through coaching, feedback, training, and professional development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, consumer, finance or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, wellness, nonprofit, or community-based programming
  • Experience with program development, community engagement, and funding/grant strategies strongly preferred
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Level 1 Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Requires reliable transportation in employee provided vehicle, current Driver's license and auto insurance
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with experience building or scaling programs, services, or business units
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, revenue models, and funding strategies
  • Exceptional leadership and team development capabilities
  • Advanced collaboration and stakeholder management skills across clinical, operational, and community environments
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, drive change, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
