Full-time tenure track position in English to teach undergraduate courses in American literature and composition. The position is a 9-month contract with compensation dispensed over 12 months; summer teaching is not required. The faculty work on a beautiful, small campus in central Illinois.
Job Responsibility:
Teach 4 courses per semester, based on student need and faculty availability
Teach undergraduate courses in American literature and composition
Teach general education literature and composition classes
Potentially teach courses in areas of special expertise
Advise students
Service to the college via committee membership
Mentor, advise, and work closely with students
Supervise in Blackburn’s student managed work program
Requirements:
A Ph.D. in English
Demonstrated excellence in teaching literature and composition courses
Experience working with undergraduate populations with diverse levels of preparation and engagement
Dedication to student-centered teaching and learning
Dedication to individualized and supportive advising
Dedication to effective and collegial communication
Nice to have:
Additional areas of expertise, such as gender and sexuality studies or digital media
