Job Responsibility:
Perform tasks in a diversified range of material and process engineering fields, such as metallics, composites and chemical processes
Review and approve engineering drawings, change documentation, certification plans and release documentation for materials in general
Take part in design reviews with Internal Product Development Teams (IPDT) and with partner/suppliers, when requested
Prepare or assist in the preparation of various Engineering documents dealing with aircraft materials and their processing, such as company material specifications
Review production process documents prepared by other functions and recommended for approval
Develop material qualification test plans, work with internal and external laboratories, analyze results and write test reports
Review and approve engineering drawings and manufacturing techniques sheets
Prepare, administer and approve standard practices, procedures, design guidelines and corporate/site specific part standards contained in Bombardier Manuals
Collaborate with Production, Methods, Quality & Logistics to resolve operational issues that are related to material and processes
Requirements:
Bachelor or Masters degree in Materials, Mechanical or Chemical engineering from an accredited university
10 to 15 years of experience in an aerospace/military production environment
Eligible for Professional Engineers of Ontario professional designation
Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials with experience in standard hardware and processes used for the manufacture of aircraft
Knowledgeable about typical military and/or aerospace industry standards such as MIL specs, Federal regulations, ASTM, ISO and SAE specifications
Extended knowledge of the different metallic materials used in the aerospace industry, mainly aluminum, but also steel and titanium as well as the different corrosion mechanisms and the available means to prevent them
Aware of the main manufacturing processes, such as machining, forming, heat treatment, shot peening as well as the different chemical surface treatments of aluminum (chemical conversion coating and anodizing) and composite processing
Knowledgeable in engineering design principles and reviewing drawings
Adept at solving engineering problems quickly and independently
Proactive mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills and a high sense of commitment
Able to work in a team environment and interact daily with technical experts, Professionals and technicians
Proficient with CATIA V5 and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
