Job Responsibility:
Provide technical engineering guidance as necessary to designers, structural engineers, technical writers, liaison engineers, customer support, Quality, buyers and laboratory staff on the applications, properties and processing of aircraft materials and hardware
Review and approve engineering drawings, change documentation, certification plans and release documentation pursuant to technical engineering modifications/specifications for materials in general
Execute various engineering tasks like the evaluation of different metallic materials, their processes and limitations
Prepare various test plans, analyze results and write certification reports
Review production process documents prepared by other functions and recommended for approval
Prepare, administer and approve standard technical engineering practices, procedures, design guidelines and corporate/site specific standards contained in Bombardier Manuals
Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through relevant engineering, process, and other capability improvements
Provide technical direction to junior and intermediate members of the team to accomplish day to day tasks
Keep abreast with current materials and hardware technology and development, suitable for use in company products, through contacts with various external agencies
Requirements:
Bachelor or Masters degree in Materials, Mechanical or Chemical engineering from an accredited university
Minimum of ten (8) years of experience in an aerospace/military production environment
Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials with experience in standard hardware and processes used for the manufacture of aircraft
Knowledgeable about metallic materials used in the aerospace industry like aluminum, steel and titanium including knowledge of their corrosion behaviors
Knowledgeable about different manufacturing processes like Heat Treatment, Shot Peening and Surface Treatment of aluminum
Familiar with aerospace and military specifications like SAE, AMS, MIL, etc.
Proficient in engineering design principles and reviewing drawings
Adept at solving engineering problems in a high-pressure environment and can deal with complex issues quickly and independently
Pro-active mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities
Must be able to work in a team environment and collaborate with Technical Experts, Professionals and Technicians on a daily basis
Excellent communication skills in English
Excellent interpersonal skills and a high sense of commitment
Familiar with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Familiar with Catia V5
