Job Description:

Our team researches, develops, implements, and supports innovative technologies aimed at improving the manufacturing methods and processes used at the St-Laurent Manufacturing Center to reduce production costs, shorten cycle times, eliminate non-conformities, and eliminate all sources of waste.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead optimization projects for manufacturing processes, including machining and trimming of metallic and composite parts
  • Develop and analyze test plans, synthesize results, and provide actionable insights
  • Act as a technical expert, supporting daily production activities and conducting reliability and feasibility studies
  • Research and implement cutting-edge technologies and solutions to enhance production efficiency
  • Participate in R&D projects focused on metal machining and composite material trimming/drilling
  • Serve as the technical focal point for multidisciplinary teams during machine fleet upgrades (acquisition or retrofit)
  • Plan, monitor, and manage projects, ensuring operational control and timely delivery
  • Prepare technical documentation across all project phases (RFI, TRD, acceptance test plans, reports, etc.)
  • Act as a technical expert in equipment acquisition, making strategic technical recommendations
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives to address key challenges and drive continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, automated production engineering, or industrial engineering
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in aerospace manufacturing processes or in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Possess a solid understanding of basic principles of material mechanics and manufacturing processes such as machining, drilling, and trimming
  • Are proficient with Catia V5 (Design), Catia V5 (Advanced Machining), Vericut
  • Have basic knowledge of CNC controllers (Fanuc, Siemens)
  • Have knowledge of cutting tools and their applications for different materials
  • Are able to work in both French (required) and English on a daily basis
  • Able to work on site at our Saint-Laurent manufacturing facility is required

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Siemens NX would be considered an asset
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing processes is an asset
  • People holding other professional qualifications will be considered, e.g. DEC

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in an aerospace/military production environment
  • Eligible for Professional Engineers of Ontario professional designation

  • Perform tasks in a diversified range of material and process engineering fields, such as metallics, composites and chemical processes
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, change documentation, certification plans and release documentation for materials in general
  • Take part in design reviews with Internal Product Development Teams (IPDT) and with partner/suppliers, when requested
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of various Engineering documents dealing with aircraft materials and their processing, such as company material specifications
  • Review production process documents prepared by other functions and recommended for approval
  • Develop material qualification test plans, work with internal and external laboratories, analyze results and write test reports
  • Review and approve engineering drawings and manufacturing techniques sheets
  • Prepare, administer and approve standard practices, procedures, design guidelines and corporate/site specific part standards contained in Bombardier Manuals
  • Collaborate with Production, Methods, Quality & Logistics to resolve operational issues that are related to material and processes
