Job Description

Summit Risk Services is seeking a Professional Liability Adjuster, Attorney and /or JD required, to join our growing team. The Professional Liability Adjuster is responsible for evaluating coverage, managing claims, and overseeing defense strategies to ensure fair and cost-effective resolutions. This role involves interpreting policy language, assigning and supervising defense counsel, attending mediations, and providing high-quality claims handling in collaboration with an experienced legal and claims professional.

  • Interpreting policy language, assigning and supervising defense counsel, attending mediations, and providing high-quality claims handling
  • Reviewing various insurance policies
  • determine whether the carrier has a duty to provide a defense and/or indemnification to the insured
  • prepare coverage correspondence, if there is a duty to defend, assign approved defense counsel
  • Oversee the work of defense counsel who will report generally in 90-day intervals
  • Attend mediations
  • Determine the most cost-effective way to effectuate resolution of the claims

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school and licensed to practice law
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent PC skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
