Must be able to determine quality welds according to specifications
Prior welding experience preferred

Job Responsibility

Clamps or inserts pieces in jigs or fixtures, adjusts arc welds pieces at predetermined locations following instructions or copies model prepared by supervisor
Performs welding repairs on plant equipment and machinery
Prepares minor set up for work under supervision of supervisor
Welds, brazes metal parts together using a programmable robotics welding machine
Perform machine set up to include, start up, program adjustments, or recovery from program shut down or emergency stops and able to make minor adjustments to welding patterns
May load or down load computer memory
Perform simple preventative maintenance on machines and fixtures
Maintains quality (may perform process inspection or S.P.C. charts, etc.)
Maintain proper levels of inventory control or quantities of components
Maintain a clean and organized work area

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills
Appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.)
For Welder II: Typically, 18 to 36 months of directly related experience required
Certificate from technical school preferred

Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly
Use a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments
Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components
Remove components from fixtures, clean and check them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies of weldments
Use a computer to check the location, inventory, routing of parts, and to record inventory transactions
May run a Robotic Welding Machine
May assemble components and perform other duties as assigned
