The Production Supervisor (SAM-4) provides senior-level oversight of aircraft maintenance operations in direct support of the 89th Airlift Wing’s executive airlift mission
Operating under AFI 21-101 within a contract maintenance environment, this position is responsible for ensuring the safety, airworthiness, and mission readiness of Special Air Mission (SAM) aircraft transporting the Vice President, and other senior U.S. and international leaders
The Production Supervisor directs and manages all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on a 24/7 basis, executing daily flying and maintenance schedules to meet dynamic mission requirements while maintaining full operational readiness across the 89AW executive airlift and supported fleets
In this role, the Production Supervisor ensures strict compliance with all applicable directives, including AFI 21-101, FAA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA standards, and is responsible for reviewing aircraft documentation and authorizing return-to-service actions, including exceptional, conditional, and ETOPS releases
The position leads maintenance planning and coordination across multiple branches and external agencies, serving as the primary point of contact for all aircraft maintenance and mission support activities, including after-hours operations
Additionally, the Production Supervisor enforces safety, security, and environmental programs, directs emergency response actions for in-flight and ground incidents, and ensures the protection of high-visibility SAM assets
The role includes full personnel management responsibilities, including supervising, mentoring, and evaluating maintenance personnel, while fostering a culture of accountability, discipline, and operational excellence
Requirements
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification is required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance
Must be able to obtain & maintain a flightline driver’s license
Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance operations, and regulatory compliance
Nice to have
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
15+ years in DoD or civilian aircraft maintenance/operations leadership
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills is preferred
