The Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the production of salmon products, ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the process. This role involves directly supervising a team of hourly employees, providing guidance and support to operate production equipment safely and effectively and meet production goals. The supervisor will carry out their responsibilities in alignment with company policies, OSHA regulations, and all applicable laws, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure that production equipment and workspaces are systematically organized, well maintained, and kept in clean condition
Supervise all phases of the production process, including thawing, brining, smoking, cooling, and cutting
Ensure operations adhere to safety, food safety, and certification standards
Guarantee the prompt and accurate fulfillment of production schedules
Oversee the inventory of raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished products, ensuring proper identification and traceability
Maintain and periodically review production and quality documentation
Confirm that employees in the area receive adequate training and possess a thorough understanding of their job
Ensure that employees are equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Implement employee coaching and progressive disciplinary measures when necessary
Oversee daily operations to ensure compliance with product specifications, quality standards, material yields, and labor productivity
Direct and coordinate activities both within and outside the smoked salmon processing area, working with teams that communicate in both Spanish and English
Collaborate with other supervisors to synchronize operational activities across departments to achieve production and shipping objectives
Foster a positive work environment and clear communication flow for employees. Address issues as they arise
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar roles and industry (food production)
Detailed knowledge and experience with supervision of day-to-day activities in a production/processing department
Direct experience with working with a HACCP program and enforcing GMP practices
Demonstrated ability to accurately understand, follow and teach detailed instructions and procedures
Intermediate experience with Excel, databases, email, ERP system
Strong English communication skills, spoken and written, and listening skills
Able to directly supervise up to 15 employees
Ability to travel
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred
