In this role you will oversee a staff of associates at our Recycling production center in a manufacturing environment. You will plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Your leadership and guidance will foster a positive work environment with strong team dynamics.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee a staff of associates at our Recycling production center in a manufacturing environment
Plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
Ensure positive associate relations and provide coaching and development
Make employment decisions and work through associate issues following proper management and HR protocols
Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas
Identify and train backups for all positions to ensure smooth flow of operations and employee development
Contribute to the continuous improvement projects within the manufacturing operations
Maintain housekeeping at all times
Follow daily planned cleaning program
Assist with updating Standard Operating Procedures
Become an expert or near expert on the recycling line starting from loading all the way up to the silos
Assist with achieving daily production requirements and accurately reporting these results
Participate in and actively support facility safety systems
Understand and utilize the Quality Assurance system
Provide leadership and manage department priorities
Improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increase associates’ skills and capabilities
Assist Production Manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and performance management
Maintain good relationships with all peers within and outside production department and promote team work
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
3-5 years of manufacturing experience
1-2 years of previous supervisory experience
Ability to work 12 hour night shifts in a continuous manufacturing operation
Ability to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled
Nice to have:
Associates Degree preferred
1-2 years of experience in plastics extrusion or plastics recycling/manufacturing preferred
Kaizen training and work experience, a plus
Quality management systems experience, a plus
