The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all shop activity to ensure the efficient and timely completion of all jobs. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.
Job Responsibility:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in fabrication and assembly of structural steel and/or plate
Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine information, such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required
Schedules hours for all shop workers
Performs hiring, termination, counseling, performance appraisals and safety
Examines defective machinery to determine cause of malfunction and reports the need for machine repairs
Trains workers in operation of equipment
Sets up and operates machines to make test runs and experimental products
Inspects work in progress and finished products
Adheres to all company safety and OSHA regulations
The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent with Vo-Tech training
Minimum 7 years’ experience in a steel fabrication shop
Requires at least 2 years’ supervisory experience
Heavy structural steel/bridge fabrication experience is required
Must be familiar with ASTM, AISC, AWS D1.1/01.5, RCSC and SSPC codes
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills and basic math skills required
