The Production Planner plays a crucial role within the plant, balancing production capacity, inventory levels, and customer delivery schedules to ensure that production planning processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Job Responsibility:
Create and maintain production schedules to meet customer demands on time while considering manufacturing efficiency, customer priorities, capacity constraints, upstream material flow, planned downtime, PPAP, and other internal customer demands.
Ensure meticulous management of all aspects of production planning with keen attention to detail.
Collaborate with customer service to fulfill customer EDI requirements and respond to changes to ensure customer satisfaction.
Adapt to changing environments with flexibility and responsiveness to pivot
Monitor downtime calendar and incorporate it into the production plan to manage interruptions effectively while ensuring on-time delivery.
Populate and update the Clear to Build file with missing parts and follow up with appropriate individuals to obtain necessary information to support the production plan.
Use SAP to assess production capacity, and dispatch orders to meet production targets without overloading the work center.
Ensure on-time delivery of finished goods, and WIP by managing production schedules and addressing any delays.
Make data-centric recommendations for overtime scheduling or propose alternatives in the event of delays.
Identify and work with manufacturing engineering and team leads to resolve issues with routings to optimize production efficiency and capacity utilization.
Manage production orders daily. Convert and release production orders to achieve customer on time delivery.
Create transfer orders for materials to support released production orders.
Escalate order priorities from customer service, denote in shop floor production plan (CM07), communicate with internal and external warehouse team members, and other stakeholders as appropriate to ensure alignment.
Manage PPAP, and Pre-Production (New Product Launch) orders.
Manage inventory levels to ensure that finished goods and work-in-process materials are at optimum levels and available when needed, while minimizing excess inventory.
Identify and drive operational improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and process flow changes to benefit inventory reductions.
Coordinate with Inventory Control regarding suspect or known inventory discrepancies affecting the production plan.
Evaluate, report, and manage excess and obsolete inventory.
Establish bank build plans, track, and report progress to plan.
Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with the production plan.
Anticipate stakeholder needs and keep them informed about production plans and any changes.
Communicate urgency when needed and drive the team for results.
Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address production planning challenges and improve processes.
Collaborate with team members to resolve issues that may arise during production, such as delays, equipment malfunctions, or material shortages.
Use creative thinking to develop unique solutions and approach problems in new ways.
Conduct root cause analysis and analyze data to identify and resolve production consumption or related system issues.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
Understand, maintain, and adjust SAP planning parameters to achieve results.

Monitor KPI’s to track production performance, inventory, schedule attainment, overtime, and identify areas for improvement.
Transport material as required using proper handling methods.
Keep work area in orderly condition with respect to proper materials, tools, equipment, and personal belongings. (Includes cleaning of equipment, floors, tables, etc.)
Maintain quality standards by following proper inspection procedures.

Requirements:
Completion of high school or equivalent. Associates Degree or higher preferred.
Proven experience in production planning within an automotive manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in SAP and Excel.
