Job Responsibility:
Responsible for all aspects of the operation of assigned process(es) including start-up, shutdown, and product changeovers as a Production Operator
Troubleshoot process problems and ensure all production quality requirements are met for the manufacturing & logistics department
Operate complex process units including twin screw compounding extruders, compaction, and pulverizing equipment
Manage auxiliaries such as solids transferring, feeding, and mixing equipment to maintain flow in the manufacturing & logistics chain
Follow established procedures and safety rules to facilitate efficient production cycles
Facilitate process development for new and existing products, from feasibility testing to automation, collaborating with engineering teams
Operate plastic processing equipment including extruders, grinders, packaging lines, and mixers
Drive a forklift safely throughout the 12-hour shift to move materials across the facility
Perform quality testing in the laboratory on various samples from plastics processing equipment
Conduct tests on raw and finished materials and report findings to the supervisor
Take immediate action to segregate production that fails to meet specifications
Perform general labor and housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe manufacturing & logistics environment
Requirements:
Must possess a Grade 12 education or equivalent
2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within a process-driven industry
Previous experience in plastics production using twin screw extruders is highly favorable
Forklift certification or significant experience driving a forklift is required for this manufacturing & logistics role
Experience in setting up and starting up sophisticated industrial equipment
Ability to work 12-hour (Continental) rotating shifts, including nightshifts, supporting a 24/7/365 operation
Physical ability to stack 55-pound bags on pallets at a rate of up to 80 per hour
Comfort working in hot and occasionally dusty environments (requires a clean-shaven face for respirator fit)
Commitment to safety and adherence to all manufacturing & logistics protocols
