The NPI Production/Material Planner is responsible for ensuring timely material availability for new product builds from prototype through production release. This role supports both internal manufacturing and global contract manufacturers to maintain a robust material pipeline.
Job Responsibility
Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to plan and manage builds for electrical, electromechanical, and mechanical assemblies in alignment with forecasted demand
Manage multi-level, high-complexity Bills of Material (BOMs) for new products and ensure BOM accuracy throughout the NPI process
Work with domestic and international contract manufacturers to manage assembly quotations, purchase orders, and resolve material alignment issues
Coordinate material procurement and readiness for internal pilot-line builds, including resolving material shortages proactively
Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), deviations, and RMAs/rework activities in partnership with suppliers and pilot line teams
Ensure internal delivery commitments are met by monitoring lead times, capacity, and material status
Maintain and update the Component Assessment file to monitor component health and work with the Team to highlight risk areas
Identify and understand when to escalate issues that may impact schedule, cost, or quality
Support phase-gate deliverables and ensure planning activities are completed on time as products transition from design to production
Lead the successful handoff of new products to high-volume manufacturing
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with strong attention to detail
3-5 years of production or material planning experience in an electrical and/or mechanical manufacturing environment
Demonstrated proactive planning capabilities and strong leadership skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams
Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts and systems
Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel and PowerPoint preferred) and experience with ERP (Oracle preferred) and PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred) and Rapid Response
