Job Description:

To ensure that all equipment on the line is operated correctly and efficiently, whilst carrying out appropriate frontline maintenance to maintain and improve the equipment performance and maximise product output whilst maintaining product quality.

Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out appropriate frontline maintenance to maintain and improve equipment performance and maximise product output whilst maintaining product quality
  • Setting up and maintaining the machines at the beginning of the product and throughout
  • Ensure the machines run to optimum efficiency by investigating downtime and ensuring corrective action is implemented through SIC reviews and PPM Systems
  • Proactively identify and resolve any issues with the machines
  • Endeavour to keep waste levels to an absolute minimum and continuously work to reduce these levels
  • Overseeing line activity, by ensuring all aspects of the line are running at the correct pace
  • Carryout paperwork for the machinery to ensure Health and Safety measurements are adhered to
  • Cleaning and maintaining machinery and work areas to be at a high standard at all times
  • Have full understanding of the sites Food Safety, HACCP, QA and Hygiene Standards whilst also carrying out safety checks or risk assessments when required
  • Understand the customer standards and specifications for each product to ensure the line minimises any complaints or rejections
  • Maintain a constant understanding of changes and adaptations made to the equipment or machinery on the line

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with machinery
  • Strong knowledge of a heavy duty and high-speed machinery
  • Strong ability to use measurement tools
  • Good understanding of production procedures and best practices
  • Excellent knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations
  • Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and handbooks
  • Good physical stamina and keen attention to detail

  • Conduct routine and planned inspections of plant, machinery, and facilities to identify maintenance requirements and potential issues, agreeing priorities and schedules with the Engineering Supervisor
  • Coordinate and distribute maintenance tasks to the engineering team as directed, tracking progress and ensuring completion is recorded and any issues are clearly communicated
  • Monitor engineering spare parts, tools, and equipment availability, proactively reporting requirements and shortages to the Engineering Supervisor
  • Provide hands-on engineering support, carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to breakdowns when required
  • Support the development and implementation of an improved PPM system and engineering parts stock control, replacing the existing paper-based processes
  • Work closely with factory line setters, offering technical support and resolving production line and machinery issues efficiently
  • Assist in the supervision of third-party contractors during installations, repairs, and planned maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with site safety procedures and safe systems of work
  • Contribute to engineering projects, including new equipment installations and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and reliability across production areas
  • Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and implement corrective actions to restore equipment performance
  • Support the provision of 24/7 engineering cover to ensure rapid response to breakdowns and minimise production disruption
