Are you a highly motivated and experienced Production Leadhand with a passion for leadership and operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? Randstad is partnering with a premier client in Surrey, BC, to find a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to take on this crucial, full-time weekend shift role. This position is the engine of the production floor, focused on maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards within the packaging team.
Job Responsibility:
Provide leadership, direction, and training to packaging employees, holding the team accountable for productivity, quality, and safety metrics
Utilize working knowledge of production equipment, including performing routine start-up and shutdown procedures for all production lines
Ensure rigorous adherence to all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), WHMIS, lockout/tag out procedures, and chemical mixing precautions
Actively identify and report potential hazards and take corrective action to prevent incidents on the manufacturing floor
Proactively identify equipment problems and effectively troubleshoot and remedy minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime
Identify and take action on issues that impact food safety and quality, promptly escalating all concerns to the Production Supervisor
Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all daily reports and required documentation related to production, quality, and safety checks
Lead by example, fostering a mentoring and respectful environment and responding to changes in the work setting in a positive and professional manner
Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Production Supervisor to support overall Manufacturing & Logistics goals
Monitor and maintain an optimal flow of materials and finished goods, contributing to seamless logistics
Conduct on-the-job training for new and existing production employees, reinforcing best practices and standard operating procedures
Requirements:
Strong mechanical aptitude and the proven ability to troubleshoot and remedy machine issues on a production line
Exceptional communication, paperwork, and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities with the ability to motivate and direct a team
Results orientation with a disposition towards continuous improvement in manufacturing processes
Proven ability to problem solve and take initiative with minimal supervision
Ability to perform effectively under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong work ethic with a high regard for quality and accuracy in all tasks
Flexibility and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively
Deep understanding of safety protocols in a production setting
What we offer:
A competitive starting wage of $22.25 per hour, plus additional shift premiums for the weekend schedule
A consistent schedule: AM Shift from Friday to Sunday, 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM, providing excellent work-life balance during the week
Bonus: Payment is topped up to 40 hours a week
