Job Description

Prepare and process scientific glass components by routing materials, setting up and operating grinding equipment, and using precision instruments to ensure quality. This role requires reading technical drawings, maintaining steady production, assisting with part supplies, and keeping a clean, safe work area while following all environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Job Responsibility

  • Routing material to specific departments for manufacturing
  • Set up and operate equipment used to cut/grind/polish scientific glass
  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications that are written in English
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments to ensure parts meet quality levels
  • Execute sustained production in the grinding department
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Must observe all precautions, rules and regulations related to environmental, health and safety matters (i.e. PPE, properly depositing of waste)
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments such as calipers to ensure parts meet quality levels for size and finish
  • Assist in managing the supply of replacement parts
  • Observe all precautions, rules and regulations related to environmental, health and safety matters (i.e., PPE, properly disposing of waste, etc.)
  • Understand and follow Bills of Materials and process routers
  • Assist on special projects as required

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • Prior experience with glass handling or machining a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Basic math and measuring skills
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in English reading and communication
  • Computer literacy
  • ability to use company-specific systems
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • High School Diploma or GED required
