Alongside a manager who will help coordinate and lead operations, you’ll help oversee staff, collaborate with teammates, and help where needed. Job Responsibility:

  • Produce and maintain work schedules and may prepare production packets (Production sheets and recipes)
  • In the absence of the Chef Manager, assume responsibility for the overall kitchen operation
  • To maintain food hygiene, service & presentation to a high standard
  • Follow recipes and prepare food for service
  • Deliver first class food throughout service
  • Supporting with managing the P&L and all associated financials
  • Supervises cooking and other kitchen personnel and coordinates their assignments to ensure economical and timely food production
  • Observes methods of food preparation and cooking, sizes of portions and garnishing of foods to ensure food is prepared in prescribed manner
  • Tests cooked foods by tasting and smelling them
  • Familiarizes newly hired chefs and food production workers with practices of kitchen and oversees training
  • Establishes and enforces nutrition and sanitation standards for unit
  • Recognizes and adopts the appropriate menus and recipes to the specific needs of the patient/resident population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient/resident population

  • Must fill in for absent employees at location, as necessary
  • Maintain knowledge of daily catering events and confirm they are prepared and delivered on time
  • Be able to work occasional night and weekend catered events
  • Attend food service meetings with staff
  • Maintain communication with staff (including office staff, e-mail, phone calls, inter-office mail, etc)
  • May perform cashier duties as the need arises
  • Promote good public relations

Requirements:

  • Must read, write, and understand verbal instructions
  • Must complete a sanitation course either before or during first year
  • Must be knowledgeable in operating an efficient cost-effective program
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal situations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Relevant culinary experience operating at a Sous Chef level
  • A passion for food and service
  • Flexible approach to hours and duties
  • IT literate, numerate and able to communicate across cross discipline stakeholders
