Job Description

Planet Recruitment are working with a well-established and innovative manufacturing organisation in Abingdon who are seeking an experienced Production Engineering Team Leader to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to lead a Production Engineering department, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and provide technical support across multiple business functions.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage the daily activities of the Production Engineering team
  • Define team priorities and allocate workloads effectively
  • Collaborate with Production teams to resolve day-to-day manufacturing issues
  • Investigate production line rejects and identify root causes
  • Support change control processes and software system testing
  • Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Support testing protocols and validation activities for new and revised products
  • Work alongside Purchasing and Sourcing teams on sample approvals and supplier validation activities
  • Assist with new supplier and product verification activities, including occasional supplier visits where required
  • Train, mentor and develop team members to enhance skills and performance
  • Provide support for product lifecycle management, including component obsolescence, quality improvements and functional enhancements
  • Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams on investigations, corrective actions and preventative measures
  • Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC qualification in an Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of five years’ experience within a design, manufacturing or production engineering environment
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven planning, organisational and change management experience
