Job Description

Meta is seeking a Product Quality Engineer responsible for developing and implementing world class manufacturing and quality processes for the next generation of disruptive Networking hardware products.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for Meta open network hardware technologies by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly and testing
  • Ensure product and process quality targets are met by designing test methods, establishing standards and driving continuous improvement projects with Meta manufacturing partners and key commodity suppliers
  • Drive root cause and corrective action for failures that occur during server integration, rack production and in the Data Center
  • Early engagement with Meta Engineering teams to implement robust DFx requirements and ensure products meet cycle-time, cost, quality and yield targets
  • Create and maintain all production process and quality documentation
  • Conduct First Article and Source Inspections reviews on Meta hardware components and assemblies
  • Create BOMs, engineering change notifications, and manufacturing process changes through product lifecycle management tools
  • International travel may be required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field and/or equivalent practical experience
  • 6+ years of experience in design or manufacturing of server products, wearables, or related technologies
  • Familiarity with server hardware design, troubleshooting, and manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of quality methodologies and tools

Nice to have

  • 10+ years experience in manufacturing and test for Network Hardware products
  • Knowledge of Network Hardware technologies (routing, switching, transport and optics)
  • Familiar with manufacturing test solutions for network hardware products
  • Proven problem solving and communication skills
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Perl, or Python is desirable

  • Own end-to-end quality for high-speed interconnect hardware across the product lifecycle: early design influence, supplier/contract manufacturer readiness, qualification, ramp, and fleet quality in lab and data center environments
  • Be the quality lead for advanced interconnect components and assemblies, including high-speed copper cables, cable cartridges, patch panels, backplane/cable-backplane solutions, high-speed connectors, and related electro-mechanical interfaces
  • Partner closely with electrical, mechanical, SI/PI, systems, reliability, operations, and external vendors to prevent escapes and drive rapid, data-driven containment and corrective action
  • Drive quality-by-design: participate in design reviews, DFM/DFx, tolerance stacks, material and plating selections, connector mating strategy, strain relief, and assembly methods to reduce variation and field failures
  • Define and track quality and reliability metrics (DPPM, yield, escapes, RMA/FRACAS trends, Cpk/Ppk where applicable) for interconnects across NPI and mass production
  • Build and execute qualification strategies for cables/connectors/patch panels (mechanical, environmental, electrical, and reliability), including test coverage, sample plans, clear pass/fail criteria, defining installation criteria and processes, optics termination quality management and setting fiber standards criteria
  • Partner with engineering and operations to drive smooth ramp: risk assessments, pilot build learnings, change control, and readiness reviews (EVT/DVT/PVT/MP or equivalent phases)
  • Own supplier and CM performance management: scorecards, audits (process and quality system), and follow-up to close findings with verified effectiveness
  • Work with suppliers to improve manufacturing throughput, stability, and yields for cable and connector assembly processes
  • Lead rapid containment and root-cause investigations for failures found during bring-up, system integration tests, reliability testing, and fleet deployments
