Job Description

Commerce is global, but selling across borders is hard. When merchants sell internationally, they need to take care of multiple complexities, such as shipping, taxes, duties, and product restrictions, depending on the destination country. Shopify and our partners can help you reduce these complexities and handle them for you. As a Cross-Border Product Partner Manager, you'll own Shopify's commercial and product relationships with our cross-border partners. These are the partners that take on the tax, duty, regulatory, and fraud responsibilities of cross-border selling so a merchant can reach new shoppers across the globe with confidence. For these partnerships, the product integration is the partnership—you'll co-own what gets built, how it ships, and what merchants experience on the other side. This is not a deal-and-move-on role. The vast majority of the job is operating live, revenue-generating partnerships: coordinating product workstreams, iterating on commercial terms, handling escalations, and growing the relationship over time. You'll sit right at the seam between commerce, payments, tax, customs, and shipping—and the decisions you make show up directly in whether a merchant in one country can confidently sell to a buyer in another.

Job Responsibility

  • Own live partnerships end-to-end. Run the day-to-day relationship with our partners—from product workstream coordination and escalation routing through commercial growth—across partners at different stages: one live and scaling, one mid-formalization, one early in the pipeline, all at once
  • Co-define integration scope with Product and Engineering. Shape integration requirements with partners, pressure-test them against platform constraints, and shepherd workstreams from scoping through launch
  • Lead commercial negotiations. Structure and iterate commercial terms, with leverage that comes from understanding what each side is building, not just deal mechanics
  • Drive formalization and growth. Move partnerships from pending commercial terms to signed agreements, then grow them—including enterprise GTM and co-sell motions with partners operating at real global scale
  • Manage stakeholders across the board. Work as a peer to Product and Engineering, and coordinate across Legal, Finance, internal tax/compliance specialists, and exec-level partner counterparts
  • Protect merchant and partner trust. Be the active owner for high-touch partners and the escalation path for merchants ramping on these integrations
  • Shape what comes next. Help define how Shopify expands into new markets and which partners power that expansion—including developing additional cross-border partners across the ecosystem

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product partnerships—working alongside Product and Engineering to identify, close, and integrate partners into a platform. Ideally in e-commerce, cross-border, payments, fintech, or fast-moving tech
  • A track record of owning live, revenue-generating partnerships end-to-end—not just sourcing
  • Commercial negotiation experience, grounded in product fluency rather than pure deal-making
  • Technically fluent enough to sit between product, engineering, and partner teams on payment/checkout integrations
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and across multiple speeds simultaneously
  • Strong stakeholder management across legal, product, engineering, finance, and external executive counterparts

Nice to have

  • Experience in the Shopify ecosystem, platform partnerships, or merchant-facing work
  • Background in e-commerce, cross-border commerce, tax/compliance, or payments partnerships at global scale
