Job Description:

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us! Figma Product Managers are highly collaborative self-starters who push their teams to build amazing experiences for all our users. We have a diverse range of experiences and expertise and love learning from each other. Across all product areas, successful Figma PMs thrive on solving hard problems, considering every detail, and achieving ambitious goals. If this sounds like you, come join us! We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Creation Engine pillar, the foundational teams that power Figma's canvas, rendering, performance, and extensions across all products. This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge web technology, creative tools, and AI innovation, building the foundation that enables millions of designers and developers to create and collaborate in ways that weren't possible before. You'll lead two critical teams, SceneGraph & Sync and Fullscreen Platform, driving the core data model, real-time collaboration infrastructure, and platform foundations that power all Figma products across web, desktop, and mobile.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for foundational data model, collaboration, and platform systems that power all Figma products
  • Guide the SceneGraph & Sync team to optimize core data representation, real-time collaboration infrastructure, and AI integration capabilities including Figma's proprietary AI language
  • Guide the Fullscreen Platform team in developing C++ foundations, WASM loading, developer APIs, and headless rendering capabilities that enable internal teams to build on Figma's platform
  • Shape the company strategy for version control, real-time collaboration, and platform foundations, ensuring consistency and performance across all products
  • Collaborate with product teams as a technical consultant, providing specialized platform capabilities while maintaining architectural integrity
  • Drive performance optimization initiatives around file load times, collaboration sync, and platform efficiency to deliver performant user experiences
  • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and communicate the value of foundational improvements across the organization

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience as a full-time Product Manager
  • Strong technical background with understanding of version control systems, distributed systems, or real-time collaboration technologies
  • Experience with building internal APIs, developer platforms, and foundational systems that enable other teams
  • Ability to balance immediate performance improvements with long-term architectural investments in platform systems
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to navigate ambiguity while building roadmaps and aligning stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with LLMs or AI integration in complex software systems
  • Understanding of complex design tools or creative software platforms
  • Background in multiplayer systems and conflict resolution algorithms
  • Experience with WebAssembly (WASM), C++, or low-level performance optimization
  • Knowledge of browser technologies and cross-platform development
