As a Product Manager focused on Apache Knox, you will define and execute the product vision and strategy for secure access to the Cloudera platform, with Apache Knox serving as the foundational gateway for distributed data services. You will drive the product lifecycle from conception through delivery, collaborating with engineering, customers, partners, and cross-functional teams to scale Knox across enterprise and cloud environments.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and own the product vision and strategy for the Cloudera Knox gateway
  • Build and maintain a prioritized, data-driven product roadmap
  • Lead the entire product lifecycle
  • Write and refine product requirements (PRDs), user stories, acceptance criteria, and epics
  • Engage with customers, field teams, and partners to understand technical challenges
  • Conduct competitive and market analysis
  • Partner closely with engineering to drive feature prioritization
  • Work with sales, marketing, and customer success to ensure Knox is effectively positioned
  • Represent Knox in customer meetings, technical briefings, and industry events
  • Define KPIs for Knox adoption, performance, security posture improvement, customer satisfaction, and business impact

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5+ years in product management for enterprise software or platform products, ideally in security, data infrastructure, or middleware
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, network security models, identity and access management (IAM), API gateway concepts, and reverse proxy architectures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences
  • Experience using customer insights and metrics to influence product decisions
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineering, sales, support, and field teams in a matrixed environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive) and Cloudera ecosystem components
  • Familiarity with enterprise identity and security stacks (Kerberos, SAML, LDAP/AD, OAuth)
  • Previous involvement with open-source projects or community engagement
  • Familiarity with Apache Knox or similar gateway technologies is a strong plus

  • Engage with customers, field teams, and partners to understand technical challenges, pain points related to secure cluster access, authentication integration (Kerberos, LDAP/AD, SSO), API security, and multi-cluster management
  • Conduct competitive and market analysis to position Knox against alternative secure access solutions and standards
  • Partner closely with engineering to drive feature prioritization and clarity on technical trade-offs
