Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled and visionary Product General Manager to lead the development and expansion of our Credit and Lending business from the ground up. Reporting to the VP Product, Risk & Onboarding, this role will involve building a team dedicated to lending and credit, taking full ownership of the product’s P&L, and driving both embedded lending / lending-as-a-service and first-party lending products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the financial services industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of launching and managing profitable lending businesses in both the embedded and first party spaces.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for both embedded lending/Lending-as-a-Service and first-party lending products, aligning with Airwallex’s strategic goals and market opportunities
  • Create and implement business plans to establish and scale the lending and credit product line, including full P&L ownership, setting financial targets, managing budgets, and driving business growth
  • Partner with global commercial teams and key customers to deeply understand critical customer problems and identify the right segments to serve
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including banks, NBFCs, financial institutions, credit bureaus, and regulatory bodies to support business growth and scalability
  • Collaborate closely with the credit risk team to develop and implement credit risk policies that align with business goals, and manage risks across the lending portfolio
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the SME banking and embedded lending sectors, including current market structures, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing cross-functional team focused on lending and credit products, including recruiting and developing top talent

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of work experience, with significant time in fintech, financial services, or professional services with financial product ownership
  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and managing lending products, with demonstrated P&L ownership and financial acumen
  • Deep expertise in embedded lending solutions and first-party lending products, with a strong understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a history of making data-driven decisions and driving product innovation
  • Experience sourcing, negotiating, and securing capital and credit facilities to support business growth
  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities, with experience in developing and managing high-performing teams
  • Excellent financial management skills, with the ability to oversee budgets, forecast performance, and drive profitability
