We're looking for a Product Engineer to help us build the smallest, smartest back office in fintech. At Karat, we believe great internal systems — powered by automation, AI, and thoughtful UX — can replace layers of manual ops. This is a high-leverage, highly autonomous role for someone who loves building internal tools that feel like magic: fast, reliable, and deeply impactful. You’ll own and evolve the systems that power our operations, support, risk, and compliance teams — from admin dashboards and Slack bots to real-time notifications and AI-assisted workflows. Your work will directly enable Karat to scale efficiently without adding headcount. You’ll partner closely with product, ops, risk, and engineering to identify friction, automate workflows, and build internal platforms that set the gold standard for operational excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Design and build internal tools used daily by operations, support, and risk teams
Create automation for key workflows — onboarding, approvals, limits, escalations, and more
Build AI-powered workflows with humans-in-the-loop to increase team leverage
Develop admin dashboards, Slack bots, and real-time notification systems
Partner cross-functionally to identify pain points and solve them with software
Maintain high reliability, performance, and usability across all internal systems
Continuously look for opportunities to eliminate manual work and improve operational scale
Jump into high-priority problems wherever leverage is highest
Requirements:
1-3+ years of experience as a software engineer, product engineer, or technical generalist
Strong coding skills in JavaScript/TypeScript (React + Node preferred)
Comfort working across the stack and owning products end-to-end
Experience building internal tools, automation systems, or operational platforms
Excitement about shipping practical AI/LLM use cases that drive real outcomes
Strong product intuition and bias toward impact and speed
Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-trust environments
Nice to have:
FinTech experience
Experience working closely with ops, support, or risk teams
