Job Description:

The Product Engineer for Recovery Boiler Applications is responsible for providing technical expertise, product development support, and engineering guidance related to recovery boiler equipment, systems, and solutions. This role bridges customer needs, product design, and field performance—ensuring that the organization’s recovery boiler technologies meet safety, efficiency, reliability, and regulatory expectations. The engineer supports sales, project execution, and aftermarket service with deep knowledge of kraft recovery processes and related equipment performance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support development and refinement of product specifications, design standards, and engineering guidelines
  • Evaluate boiler performance data from customers and field teams to guide product improvements
  • Provide technical recommendations for boiler upgrades, rebuilds, and optimization packages
  • Assist with equipment sizing, thermal calculations, and process design for air systems, heat transfer surfaces, smelt systems, sootblowers, ESPs, and related components
  • Benchmark competitive technologies and incorporate best practices into product design
  • Participate in customer meetings to translate requirements into engineered solutions
  • Support proposal development with technical inputs, equipment selections, and performance models
  • Deliver technical presentations, training, and product demonstrations
  • Support field service teams on inspections, troubleshooting, and root‑cause investigations
  • Develop upgrade packages for air systems, combustion optimization, fouling mitigation, and pressure‑part enhancements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or related discipline required
  • Experience in recovery boilers, chemical recovery, power & utilities, or heavy industrial steam generation
  • Experience with OEM engineering, process design, or field service support preferred
  • Knowledge of kraft recovery processes, combustion systems, smelt dissolution, and heat transfer fundamentals
  • Familiarity with boiler pressure part design, fluid dynamics, air system optimization, and emissions control equipment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and field inspection reports
