The Product Development Staff Engineer provides advanced technical expertise and engineering support for the design and development of new and existing medical device products. This role supports product quality, manufacturing efficiency, supply continuity, and cost improvement initiatives while contributing to cross-functional projects and fostering innovation.
Job Responsibility:
Provide technical leadership in the design and development of medical device products
Support existing products to improve quality, manufacturability, cost, and supply continuity
Participate in cross-functional project execution and technical decision-making
Understand customer needs through literature reviews, interviews, observation, competitive analysis, prototype evaluations, and clinical or simulated use studies
Translate customer and user needs into engineering requirements and specifications
Develop product, packaging, and process specifications
Apply engineering fundamentals to design robust and manufacturable products
Develop and execute test methods, including test setups, measurement equipment, and system analysis
Perform data analysis and prepare detailed technical reports for design verification and product changes
Ensure compliance with company quality systems and all applicable regulatory and safety requirements
Promote innovation and contribute new product concepts and performance enhancements
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to engineering team members
Requirements:
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
Advanced degree preferred
Experience in product development or engineering within a regulated industry
Hands-on experience supporting both new product development and existing products
Experience working in cross-functional engineering or project teams
Strong engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills
Medical device product development knowledge
Design verification, testing, and data analysis expertise
Knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements
Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
