Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for the design, development, improvement, qualification and introduction of optical fiber products while working in close collaboration with the company’s other engineering teams, cable, connectivity and solutions engineering group and different manufacturing facilities globally
  • Maintain high level of expertise in fiber passive products (optical fiber, cables, cable installation, assemblies, and testing of optical fiber products)
  • Accountable for projects involving cross-functional groups to support product development phases and introduction into manufacturing
  • Develop and execute product qualification plans and procedures
  • Accountable for materials and samples availability for laboratory tests
  • Provide updated schedules to the project stakeholders
  • Produce Test Reports and review data provided by the laboratory and prototype trials
  • Participate actively in the development, improvement and/or validation of the prototypes
  • Produce technical documentation, drawings, product structure details, technical data sheets, and other product related data
  • Provide engineering support and scientific background on projects
  • Improve and/or integrate new tests and measurements procedures in the laboratory and manufacturing environment
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and further improvements on the product design
  • Conduct feasibility studies of new technologies and identify potential technology gaps in the product line

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in Product Engineering or Process Engineering
  • Three (3) years of experience required in new fiber optic product development and coordinating the transfer of these products for manufacturing with internal and external customers
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting issues for fiber products development by using engineering best practices, including design of experiments and data analysis using MiniTab or other data analysis software
  • Leading cost saving initiatives by qualifying cost-efficient alternate raw material sources and/or implementing design modifications
  • Proficient use of 3D CAD and simulation in SolidWorks software
  • Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
