Job Description

We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 3,037 years playing 60 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love. As a Product Developer Intern at Colonist, your mission is to work closely with our game team to solve complex product problems and build engaging game modes, ensuring seamless UI/UX across platforms. You'll learn how high-quality games and products are actually built and help shape a game that reaches millions of players.

Job Responsibility

  • Build and improve game UI and UX, with a strong focus on clarity, polish, and fun
  • Contribute to new game modes, features, and gameplay experiences
  • Turn product ideas into working features used by real players
  • Work across the stack as needed
  • Collaborate asynchronously with product teams
  • Learn how to ship, iterate, and improve features based on real player behavior

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college course, preferably software development related
  • Available for a mid to long-term commitment (this is not a summer-only internship)
  • You enjoy building projects from start to finish
  • You care about user experience, not just the code
  • Motivated by solving challenging problems
  • Interested in board games

Nice to have

  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Git and version control
  • Side projects, prototypes, or experiments (finished or unfinished)

What we offer

  • Competitive scholarship paid in USD
  • Unlimited vacation
  • Yearly team offsite
  • Full work equipment
  • Budget to experiment with any AI tool you want
  • Stock options: you'll own a piece of what you're building
  • Access to all company metrics and internal discussions
